Vital Statistics Technician - Part-Time Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Join our team as a Bilingual Part-Time Vital Statistics Technician!
Fluent (reading, writing, conversation) Spanish is required for this position. Applicants who do not indicate they possess this skill will not be considered for this recruitment. An examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm level of skill in this area. Bilingual premium pay is $1.15 an hour.
The Vital Statistics Technician will perform a variety of clerical duties related to the processing of birth and death certificates, disposal of human remains permits, and medical marijuana card applications, in order to fulfill the legal requirements outlined in the California Health and Safety Code and California's Code of Regulation
Responsibilities include:
- Communicating orally and in writing regarding insufficient and missing fees or a failure to locate records
- Ordering vital records forms from State and County Registrars Offices
- Issuing forms to funeral homes, coroners, crematoriums, and hospitals
- Acting as an information source to the general public, funeral directors, medical records personnel, the Coroner's office, and physicians on a variety of vital records matters
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to:
- Learn, comprehend, and discuss various state laws related to Vital Statistics processing
- Understand and carry out a variety of oral and written instructions in an independent and timely manner
- Perform data entry with accuracy and speed
- Have experience with a variety of office equipment and processes (word processing, copier, computer, and fax)
- Communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously both orally and in writing
