The County of Sonoma General Services Department operates numerous buildings on various campuses. These campuses encompass the County Administration Center which includes the Main Adult Detention Facility, the Airport Complex, the Veterans' Memorial Buildings, and the Chanate and Los Guilicos Campuses. In general these facilities were constructed during the 1950's and 1960's and require extensive work to maintain and operate.
The Building Mechanic II position requires a thorough knowledge of two or more building maintenance or engineering trade areas, including vessel boiler, electrical, low voltage control, HVAC, refrigeration, or electronic theory and systems with journeyman knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, and other building trades. As maintenance technologies progress, this position's responsibilities may include computer- or cloud-based building management and controls, and electronic security systems including access controls and monitoring.

- Experience working with computerized maintenance systems
