Animal Control Officer I/IICounty Of Sonoma
Animal Control Officer I/II $3,240 - $4,727/Monthly. Apply by November 13, 2018.
ACOs enforce State and County laws and ordinances and apply procedures pertaining to the control of rabies, and control, licensing, care, and dispatch of animals. They capture and restrain aggressive or sick/injured animals, lift animals up to 100 pounds or more, and move them short distances in order to load and unload them into a truck. ACOs investigate complaints and non-compliance with laws, issue citations, warning, and abatement notices for violations; enter data into a computer and create reports; and communicate with the public. ACOs may be required to appear as a witness in court, and may use firearms to dispatch suspected rabid, unrestrained, vicious, and/or severely injured animals. Additionally, ACOs drive vehicles including a 3/4 ton truck, operate a 2-way radio to communicate with a dispatcher, and may perform dispatch duties.
The Sonoma County Animal Shelter provides services on a 24 hour/7 day a week basis, and as such, ACOs are expected to be available to work some weekends and holidays, as well as be on call for emergency situations.
